Green Light A Vet This November!

Support our veterans with a green porch light this November

Post Date:10/11/2017 11:05 AM

Each year, the "Green Light A Vet" campaign helps show national support for the sacrifices veterans make to protect our country.  Each November, homeowners and businesses swap out a porch or entryway light bulb for a green one as a visual symbol of our support and appreciation for Veterans in our community.  This year, Glastonbury EMS will be handing out 100 green light bulbs at the Apple Harvest Festival on October 13th, 14th, and 15th, to help our community show their support.  They will be there all 3 days of the festival and will hand out green light bulbs to the first 100 people who stop by their truck.

Once you receive your bulb, replace a bulb on your porch or in a prominent exterior light on your home or business throughout the month of November.  Take a photo of the green light and post it to social media with the hashtag #greenlightavet to support the movement and inspire others to do the same.  You can also map your light at www.greenlightavet.com to help them demonstrate the national support of this campaign through a visual dotted map.

If you can't make it to the festival, you can also obtain a green light bulb from retail stores like Walmart.

The Town of Glastonbury will also be showing it's support with green light bulbs at various town facilities.  For more information on this movement, visit www.greenlightavet.com.
